Agarapatana Plantations PLC Organizes Its First-Ever Plucking Competition at Nayabedde Estate
Agarapatana Plantations PLC proudly hosted its first-ever Plucking Competition on the 10th of April 2025, at the picturesque Nayabedde Estate. This milestone event was organized under the Inspirational leadership of Group Manager Mr. Gayan Wijesekara and his dedicated team, with the invaluable guidance of Director/CEO Mr. Denham Madena.
The event brought together the entire workforce of Nayabedde Estate, creating a vibrant and spirited atmosphere.
All Estate Managers in the region were invited and were present to witness and support this remarkable occasion, marking a new chapter in employee engagement and recognition within the Company.
A total of 12 skilled tea pluckers, representing three from each division, participated in the competition, showcasing their dedication, technique, and speed.
After an exciting and closely contested event, Mrs. P MAHADEVI -Meiyan Division emerged as the Best Plucker, securing the first place and receiving a cash prize sponsored by the Company, along with several other attractive gifts. Mrs. R Nirmala-Middle Division and Mrs. R D KARUNAWATHI – Meiyan Division were awarded second and third places, respectively, and were also recognized with cash prizes and valuable gifts in appreciation of their hard work.
“The event was further graced by the presence of Mr. Denham Madena and Mrs. Madena, who attended as Chief Guests, alongside other distinguished invitees including the SSP and HQI of Bandarawela Police, as well as several regional dignitaries.”
